Montiola is a Rhaeto-Romanic field name in Thueringen, Vorarlberg and means “small mountain”. In Thueringen, Montiola refers to the waterfall, the artificial ponds and part of the original swamp plain with the hills above the waterfall.

I grew up with this waterfall and Montiola. I am fascinated by the interaction of water and mountain. How the water shapes the mountain and moves so much with its quiet power. Water as a source of life and as a destructive force when there is too much of it.

The water with the gradient caused the settlement of the first textile factory in Thueringen in the 19th century. First mechanically, then with electricity, the entire factory was driven by water! In the buildings of this textile factory my father and partners created the small carpet facory. The Montiola waterfall brought my parents to Thueringen in 1963.

Here I founded a family and my children grew up. Here is my home!
